Tues band. . .

Went out with Yueyuan, JingJing, Fabian, Jiarong, Vincent and LiMing today. We were supposed to have dinner at IMM to celebrate JingJing's Bday.

Someone suggested to visit BandWorld to buy reeds. YY brought us walk in circles, Vincent and Jiarong also dunno how to go, least to say fabian.

then finally decided to call BandWorld 2 ask for directions. The person say "at the Kopitiam, see The young Tau Foo stall, then turn right into the exit." Then we used the way but the hawkers were not very happy. After purchasing the reeds, We had chicken Rice for dinner at the kopitiam. Happy Bday JingJing.

Then we went for Band Prac. There was a Guest Conductor, Mr Akiyama from Japan to give us a talk on the importance of warming up. He was the composer for our warmup piece. But the most excruciating part was that he didn't give me much tips on playing the contrabass clarinet. But i guess it was an eye opener to see that he puts in much effort in his music.

Mr Akiyama-san explaining to the Clarinet Section

Sai How playing the "natural trompet" used in the Bach/Beetoven Period. Valveless trompet.

Mr Akiyama-san playing the "natural Conert". Looks like clarinet to me! haha

He can play all sorts of instruments.

Then He brought out the "natural Trumpet" and "natural Cornet" to show us. These Instruments are considered relics already. Nice chap. But a pity that good time passes too fast. haha
